Kari Tauring is a Minneapolis based Nordic folk musician, cultural educator, and spiritual leader- a völva in Old Norse.
Her original spiritual system is called
Völva Stav and uses staff and stick rhythm, ancestral history, runes and songs, and alignment with the world tree to heal öorlog for family of origin, community, and culture.
Joining Kari in 2024 are Amanda Lonsdorf and Elzbieta, members of the Völva Stav Guild. Together they will teach Norse embodiment, Boundary Setting, and Communication skills based on the world tree and the inhabitants within. The Day Begins at Sunset (2023)Kari will read from her new poetry book during her concert on Sunday. Here you will also hear the Iron Age bone and tree flutes she made this past spring in Denmark and Norway.
Bones and Trees: Hear Kari's new flutes made of Sheep tibia and swan wing...hear the stories of their making. In May 2023 Kari received a Viking Connection Apprenticeship to study Iron Age bone flute and elder tree flute in Denmark with Aksel Striim (Krauka) and in Norway with Hans Frederik Jacobsen.
